I enjoyed exploring your project :)
Overall, it'a easy to navigate and has a consistent styling throughout the site. I also like that you added additional interactives like a quiz and a map which provide lots of useful and relevant information about the franchise and gives context.
Strengths:
1) Consistent style (retro Pokémon feel)
2) I like that all vis have small cute icons of Pokemons
3) Interactions help guide the user (especially in the map section), making it more engaging to explore
Improvements:
1) I felt that some colours were not adjusted for accessibility - Quiz (q1 which Pokemon gen is your fav). It was a bit hard to see the numbers
2) When I go to the map section, the navigation disappears so I have to press back button. I wish I could always see the nav at the top.
3) For the first ring/pie vis, it was not clear to me that you can click on parts to make it expand. Mayne add some instructions somewhere?

The site is very cute! I really like the timeline map, it's very informative and interactions are clear. However, after going through it I didn't know how to get back to site other than the browser arrow.
Visualizations:
- I'm wondering if the pie chart is the best type of chart to show the breakdown of pokemon types. With there being so many types it was difficult to compare them to on another.
- In addition to linking where you got the data from, it would be helpful to be clear about the ratios. Specifically for last visualization for the pokemon showdown, it would be helpful to know how many total votes there were.
Overall, I think visually the team nailed the pokemon aesthetic!

From a user perspective, the website is fun and engaging, with a consistent Pokémon theme that makes it visually appealing and easy to explore. The navigation is mostly smooth, and features like the map and quiz add a lot of interactivity and help make the content more digestible. The map section in particular is very informative and easy to use. However, some interactions are not very clear, like clicking on the pie chart, and navigation becomes confusing when the menu disappears in certain sections.
From a course perspective, the project shows strong visual consistency, effective use of interactivity to guide users, and good organization of information, especially in the map visualization. For improvements, accessibility should be improved with better color contrast, interaction affordances should be clearer so users know what is clickable, and navigation should remain consistent across sections. It would also help to reconsider the use of pie charts for complex comparisons and provide clearer context for data, such as explaining proportions or sample sizes.

Overall, it was a great experience exploring the website you've built for your project. The theme was executed perfectly and was consistent throughout. The design elements, such as the color scheme and fonts used, added a polished touch to the website and were fitting with the Pokémon theme. The overall vibe of the website was fun even if someone isn't a fan of Pokémon.
I enjoyed the map and timeline section because it was user-friendly, educational, and interactive. The hover effect gave more information about specific dates without making them tedious to read by adding more text. I loved the quiz element added to the website as it makes it interactive and fun for users to explore.
However, one aspect that can be improved is providing more guidance for some elements on the website. For instance, some graphs had clickable elements that I initially did not realize. It would have helped to add a brief description indicating whether these elements can be clicked or not. Additionally, there seemed to be a few changes in the navigation bar based on where you clicked on the website.
Nevertheless, it was a pleasure browsing through your website as it was creatively designed. Great job!

I'm a fan of pokemon, so I'm happy to see a group doing a coverage on it! I think the pokemon quiz is fun and interactive, I also enjoyed the timeline/generations map that walks us through the evolution of the pokemon games. I had a difficult time interpreting the donut chart, as it was a bit overwhelming and the incredibly narrow/thin slices made it difficult to scrub through–though the animations were very neat! I wonder if using a network graph would be an interesting way to describe pokemon relationships? But overall, I think it's a neat project that covers a cool topic!
kca2114/21/2026, 11:06:16 PM
As a fan of the series really like the aesthetic that the website has. Especially the intro with Meowth is very cute and playful.
The Trainer Quiz is a cool interactive way to lead to deeper visualizations like the generation timeline or type data and shows a thoughtful user journey.
I think a few things that could be improved is maybe adding some sub menu or drop downs to the region map since it does feel a little crapped right now. Also some facts about the choices made for the quiz could help flesh it out a little and make it more rewarding instead of needing to redirect to see something related.
Something to note is I think it's interesting that a differentiation of the type order is made like ghost/dark vs dark/ghost are considered different and either show only spiritomb or sableye respectively.
Great project, I really liked exploring the type chart :D.

1. User: I'm not sure if this is just me, but I have my page zoom at 100% and the bottom 25% of the page is cut off and the Pokemap returns a 404 github error.
okay i found out that clicking "Pokemap" only from the quiz page works.
I think the pokequiz has more potential for interaction, like maybe a results comparison- how common are the answers? Currently it feels detached from the rest of the website.
2.Student:
I think the pokemap is really fun to learn facts about the individual generations, but its really dense and compact. I think the facts area should be larger and more spread out. Currently theres ~7 facts +images within 20% of the page, which causes high cognitive load. I think the title header could be removed or the middle section could be used, because the middle of the page is blank currently. (Okay I just realized its blank because the map is movable, also how do you exit from the map without the browser back button?)
I like the vizualization topics but they could be executed better. The main types circle graph is good, but fitting the subtypes in the same graph makes it hard to read. The main types should be one viz, and the individual subtypes should be a seperate viz. ie, all the subtypes of water is one viz, all the sub types of dark is another viz, etc. This would reduce the cognitive load from the many colors.
expanding the pokedex, doesnt really make sense to be a line graph, because its not a gradual increase in numbers, its an incremental increase per generation, so a bar graph would be more fitting..
I feel like the journey of time viz could be merged with the map somehow.

Loving the two quizzes at the beginning, it feels like a homage to the Pokemon games, really adding to the whole theme of the site. The Retro Pokemon themed design is very fun visually.
The map and timeline are very interactive, and very intuitive. But while the nav bar stays consistent in the different tabs, it disappears when using the world map. Keeping the nav bar might help with consistency.
I love the interactivity of the visualizations, especially the pokemon type chart where users can search through and discover typings for every single type chart. However, in the first view, the outer circle seems a bit unclear.
Overall, the project is strong in design and engagement!!

Overall Thoughts
From a user's perspective, this website has a consistent style, and interactions work well. The site navigation is simple and easily laid out for users to follow along. As a Pokémon fan, I found the quiz to be a fun little thing to include, however, doing the quiz and looking at your statistics meant absolutely nothing since all of them go to the same exact chart no matter what (no customization or variety if the answers to the quiz vary), so I thought that was a bit unnecessary for the quiz to be playing a part in this.
Layout & Navigation
Homepage Zoom: The homepage is zoomed in, and the only button that I saw was for the quiz. I had to zoom out in my browser to find the other button.
Broken Link: The Pokemap button doesn't work; it leads to a 404 error.
Visual Consistency: Once on the PokeScope page, the website loses its visual identity and the nav bar changes completely into this unpolished version.
Overlapping Quiz Results: After finishing the quiz, if you get a Pokémon with a longer name (like Charmander), the text overlaps directly with the image icon of that Pokémon.
Map Interactions
Hidden Labels: The map displays the regions on hover, but if it's not on hover, then the region names are completely invisible, leading to confusion as a user and increasing the cognitive load/time it takes for users to figure out whether they have hovered over all regions yet, or if there's still another one that may still be hidden. Even though the numbers take you through all regions, it is not clear that they do at first glance, unless the user experiments by clicking a number.
Hovering for Dates: Having the map region numberings reveal the dates on hover is not the best choice in my opinion, because I then have to keep hovering over every region's number if I wanted to know what year it is from (so I could compare and contrast the numbers).
Map Dragging: The map is also able to be freely moved for some reason by the user (click and drag), and the user can just move the map accidentally off-screen.
Data & Charts
PokeScope Chart: "The Breakdown of Pokémon Types" is very difficult to understand. I was not aware that clicking the sections made the chart zoom in until I watched the video. Some sections are way too small to even see and therefore very hard to even click on.
Starters Data: I strongly believe the "Which Starters do Fans Love the Most?" chart is wrong. Charmander has always been a fan favourite. The dataset you chose was either taken from a very small sample size, has an extreme bias or is just outright completely inaccurate.

Wow! This really feels like revisiting my childhood; the design captures a strong early 2000s aesthetic that’s both nostalgic and engaging. I especially love the level of interaction. It feels more like a game than a typical website, which makes the experience very unique and fun to explore. One issue I ran into was with the PokeMap, where I couldn’t find a clear way to exit back to the main page, which could affect accessibility and navigation. In the visualization section, the first pie chart is very interactive and creative, but it can feel a bit overwhelming at first glance. Overall, I really appreciate the time and care you all put into this project. It was fun!
Strengths
(1) Strong and cohesive visual identity that effectively captures the nostalgic Pokémon inspired theme.
(2) Highly interactive design that creates an engaging, game like experience.
(3) Creative use of visuals and interactions that make the project feel unique and memorable.
Areas for Improvement
(1) Improve navigation by adding a clear way to exit or return from sections like the PokeMap.
(2) Simplify or guide the first pie chart visualization to reduce visual overwhelm/fatigue
(3) Adding small instructions or cues to help users understand how to interact with certain elements

I really enjoyed how your website is designed and how it's gamified.
I feel it was a little hard to understand the Pokemon quiz and the generation timeline map as someone who hasn't played Pokemon before. I feel like some more context for the quiz and guidance on what to look at for the interactive map would help out a lot with this confusion.
From a course perspective.
The strengths are:
1. The consistent ui design and how you guys added actual pokemons into the visualizations to help understand it more
2. I especially like the colour encodings for Pokémon types, particularly the bar chart where each type is represented by a colour alongside an image of the most popular Pokémon instead of text
3. Good narrative flow and how you provided background information first with the quiz and interactive map which leads user to the final visualizations.
Improvements:
1. I think the donut chart can be improved where I had trouble understanding what all the colour encodings represent.
2. Another improvement for the donut chart is I didn't really understand how the angles are calculated because there are also grey areas which represents "none". Im not sure if this means there are missing data or a calculation error.
3. I think the navigation bar could be more consistent. I liked the navigation bar on the home page, and I feel it should be used across the rest of the site. For example, on the map page, I couldn’t find a way to exit.

Your project is fun to look at, but there is just a lot of unnecessary things on the site that dilute your project and hide the most important part, which is the analysis and the graphs. I get that the homepage, quiz, and map provide the context and the background info. But from the perspective of someone who has no idea about Pokémon, I still have no fruitful understanding of the franchise or the lore after reading through all of these pages.
The most important part, which is the visualization page, is poorly done overall. I have no idea what is the overall goal you are trying to achieve from showing these graphs. There is no clear narrative arc and there is no connection between the data besides the topic. The first graph is basically unbearable since there are a lot going on and I don't know what information I am supposed to get out of them. It looks like to me that the paragraph below is just there for decoration since there is no substantial information or analysis on the graphs.
The design of the site does give Pokémon vibe with the illustrations and font choice, but there are lots of space for improvement. Nonetheless, I can see that you put significant effort into the first three pages. It would be nicer if you also put the same effort for the visualization page.
With that being said, I think you should come back to the visualization page, apply the styling and add a more in-dept analysis for the graphs. It would also help a lot if you show at the beginning what you are trying to explore, explain why the graphs you chose matter in the analysis along the way, and a conclusion to round things up at the end.

Great work Team Rocket! As someone who isn't super familiar with the world of Pokemon, this project was generally easy to navigate. The UI design was fun and relevant to the content. The trainer quiz was a cool addition, personalizing the experience for the user. I also appreciate the attention to detail for handling edge cases — for example, hiding spoilers for Generation 10 in the Region & Generation Map.
As other commenters brought up, I think you could improve this project by adding more text to describe how to interact with the visualizations: adding more headings, annotations, or labels would help the user know what to click on and what to expect to happen when clicked. One particular instance that confused me was in the PokeScope sunburst; after selecting Grass > None > Sunflora, everything except the centre button disappears.
Lastly, on the Region & Generation Map, the navigation bar seems to be missing. Similarly, on the PokeScope page, some of the navigation bar links are broken. Hopefully those are just small fixes for you! Cool project overall!

Team Socks with Crocs
Great project!
As a user exploring through the project, I really like the trainer quiz aspect (everyone loves a good customization quiz haha). I just wish that you can save your results as a user but i guess that means you gotta log in somehow. I also enjoyed the pokemap section, however if you didn't let me know in the video to click on the region i wouldn't have known that I need to do that to show very helpful details about different pokemon generations.
Some strength and improvements that this visualization site can make:
Strengths:
1) The second graph allow its user to retrieve value as well as filter out values they like to investigate with hover interaction in some visualizations
2) The last graph make good use of color as categorization of pokemon, the icons help put a visual to a name, especially helpful to people who are not as well versed in the pokemon universe.
3) In the third graph, detailed annotations were given to explain the different versions of pokemon released through the years, allowing users to retrieve data on the difference of each pokemon game
Improvements:
1) It would be helpful for the team to establish a clear stream of narration and have the annotation underneath each graph to tie into that narration.
2) The first graph is a bit confusing at first glance of the task the user can do with it. Although the click and reveal is interesting as an interaction, some guidance would be helpful for user to know that they need to click on the pie pieces.
3) The first graph is a bit ambiguous with regards to what the size of each pie section signifies. Some sort of number being included in the tooltip (i.e bigger pie section = larger amount of pokemon with that type) would be helpful.
Personally I really like this idea and exploration! Looking forward to how the final site will look like!

As a pokemon fan and user I like the idea of this website, the website does shows quite well the history and timeline of the pokemon games, personally I love the map as someone who has played many of the pokemon games seeing a world map for the first time really helped me put the entire franchise and game world together, though I don't personally understand the use of the pokemon trainer quiz
From the students perspective:
pros:
- the expanding of the pokedex viz was easy to understand
- the bar graph for starters was easy to understand, the colors helped to stand out and the small pictures on top helped to differentiate the different pokemon
- the story of the above viz made sense to me
Cons:
- the double stacked pi charts really made it hard to understand how to navigate and understand the viz at first glance
- the story of this viz for the outer ring of the pi chart was not intuitive and hard to understand
- the overall display of information was hard to properly understand

Overall, I really enjoyed exploring this project. The Pokémon theme is very consistent and makes the website feel fun and engaging. I especially liked the map, timeline, and quiz since they add a lot of interactivity and make the content more interesting to explore rather than just reading. The visuals also feel polished and well-designed.
From a user perspective, the experience is mostly smooth, but there were a few moments where I wasn’t sure what was clickable, especially in some of the charts. Also, navigation can feel a bit confusing in certain sections, like when it’s not clear how to go back.
From a course perspective, the project shows strong visual consistency and good use of interactivity to guide the user. However, interaction affordances could be clearer, and some visualizations, like pie charts with many elements, can feel a bit overwhelming. Improving clarity and navigation would make the experience even better.

Such a cute theme! I love pokemon so seeing the gens laid out in in this linear way was exciting.
As a user, I enjoyed interacting with several unique decisions. The inconsistent styling confused me a bit at time, but the whimsy was definitely strong!
As someone who took this course, the storytelling is strong in this project and you have a great variety of visualizations that are quite easy to understand.
Strengths:
- creative ui approach, with styled sliders and an interactive map using fun transitions
- lots of information, as you covered several features of each gen as well as the region each is set in
- variety i how you show visualizations, since you had the map as well as the breakdown of types etc
Improvements
- the site is not responsive, I had to zoom out my browser to see all buttons on the home page
- inconsistent styling, the Explore Visualizations page looks very different to the rest of the site
- I recommend using higher quality images, as some pokemon look a bit blurry and low-res
aza544/22/2026, 5:50:15 AM
Your project was super fun and relevant in today’s pokémon trading landscape :p
strengths:
- strong visual consistency
- relevancy with popular culture
- strong interaction design that supports user goals
- great to show changes over time
weaknesses
- accessibility issues with the map feature
- usability issues, some clickable things don’t appear clickable
kkc784/22/2026, 8:21:09 AM
As a long time pokemon fan exploring your project was really fun and nostalgic. The combination of quizzes, map exploration, and interactive visualizations creates a playful user journey makes it really approachable.
Even though some things were buggy and giving 404 errors, the pokemap was really fun to play with. I wished there was an easy back to main menu button though for that page.
For the visualizations, even though the sun disk was engaging and showed a bunch of varieties, it becomes difficult to interpret when many categories are shown at once. It’s hard to compare proportions across small slices
sha2644/22/2026, 9:00:11 AM
Strong and engaging project with a clear passion for the topic. The team did a great job making complex Pokémon data approachable through interactive features like the region map, quiz, and type visualizations. I especially liked how the design balances fun fan content with meaningful data storytelling. One area to improve would be reducing the length of the presentation and simplifying some explanations so the key insights stand out more clearly. Overall, it is a creative and well-developed project that appeals to both fans and casual users.
