I liked this one because it made something you never think about feel real. Like I didn’t know AI usage had an actual carbon cost like that. The design was simple in a good way and easy to follow. One thing you did really well was making the message clear without overcomplicating it. It might be nice to see more specific comparisons (like “this equals driving X km”) and maybe let users input their own usage or something to make it more personal. - Vanshdeep Sidhu

Really liked this. The LED countdown was my favourite piece since it turns an abstract unit into something you actually feel ticking down. I also thought the reasoning model section was a strong choice to include, because the 150 to 700 times figure is the kind of thing that changes how someone thinks about which model they reach for.
One thing worth pushing on is the bubble simulator at the end. It's a nice interactive moment but the takeaway gets a bit lost since CO2 per query is already small, so even 1000 queries doesn't feel alarming on its own. Anchoring it to a relatable comparison, like equivalent driving distance or phone charges, would help the scale land. The opening stat section is also doing a lot of work with three big numbers in a row, and breaking them up with a short visual between would give each one more room to register.
Overall it's a clear, well scoped project on a topic that's easy to make boring, and you made it interesting!

I liked the design of your website. The scrolling navigation of it allowed each section to flow into the next. The justifications for each visualisation was also quite clear.
For the first visualisation, although the reasoning for choosing a pie chart was clear, the 2025 value being bigger was not immediately clear visually. For the second visualisation, I do not think the click and drop down function was clear on the website. The inclusion of the C02 formula was nice, but seeing it used directly in context would make it more impactful.

From a user perspective, this project is successful in making technical data more interpretable. The comparison between AI energy use and familiar objects, such as LED bulbs, helps translate abstract units into something more understandable. The animated “carbon puffs” also make the environmental impact more noticeable and engaging, which supports the overall message.
From a course perspective, the project effectively uses high-precision visual channels such as position for quantitative comparison, along with clear colour mapping and rhetorical framing. Areas for improvement include reducing visual clutter in dense scatter plots to improve readability, clarifying user understanding with clearer annotations, and ensuring more balanced comparisons by normalizing values where necessary.

To begin with, the story and the narrative that you are telling is a super important topic and I was really interested in seeing how everything unfolded! The website design was cohesive and felt perfectly in place with the story and the content was well organized with a clear and efficient flow.
The live countdown for the LED comparison was a clever and creative way to show the impact for a regular everyday user that may not understand the technical jargon and helps break down the information for them. The user-driven CO2 emission visualization was also another creative way to showcase the scale and impact that a single user can have. Furthermore, I enjoyed the conclusion where it reflected on the analysis and visualizations that have been shown up until that point. It provides a clear end and wraps up the narrative effectively. However, for the pie chart visualization, I found that the side-by-side comparison did make it a little bit difficult to understand the scale of difference. It looks minimal from a top-down overview and may not have been the most effective visualization. The revolving visualization with all the AI models in the introduction is well done, however I wish there was a way to slow down and manually check and look through each one. Lastly, I feel that providing an analogy or a comparison of some sorts may have helped me grasp how significant of a difference -13 TWh is between the AI servers electricity in 2024 as compared to 2025.
Overall, a very thoughtful and well-executed project overall, I enjoyed it a lot!

This website looks very professional since the theme is consistent with the topic this website is talking about. The narrative flow is also logical and guides us naturally through the story. In terms of visualizations, there is a lot of interactions that draw user's attention. The chart types are multiple and all serve distinct purposes and aren't redundant. The Low/Medium/High explanation does good contextual work, so it was easy to interpret the energy differences.

Great narrative and very engaging. The rotating globe at the top with companies and theur CO2 emmisions was very cool. Graphs and charts are easy to understand with descriptive titles and captions. A lot of people might not understand what a carbon emmission looks like so maybe you could relate it to something they would understand. For example like 1000 prompts is like taking a short flight or something. Overall, I like the UI and the visuals are engaging, the user experience is great and I understand the why behind your story. Good job!

The focus on carbon cost of AI was an interesting and relevant topic to learn more about since the past few years we've been hearing more about data centres and water usage, especially with people using it daily. As a user, the final visualization with filling the box with carbon emission had the most impact because it felt like my action were causing carbon to enter the atmosphere and made it more personal. The overall design of the website was cohesive and fit the theme.
---
The use of pie charts to show AI share of data centre electricity consumption was a fitting choice to highlight the part to whole proportion. Using accent colours across the data visualizations to highlight data was also useful in drawing the eye to important info. The lollypop chart was also a creative visualization to show energy deletion in real time, adding visual interest and interaction.
AI electricity usage was shown in comparison to many different metrics. Having a personal benchmark, whether based on an average user’s daily electricity usage by day, or a value that the user enters so they can see that AI uses, for example, 200 times more than their personal daily usage may help make it more grounded for your target audience.

I really like the intro animation its super cool and I love hwo you can even interact whith it. The itneractive additions also really add to the overall website.
An imporvement could be adding context to each of these numbers. For people who don't have a background on terminolgy, seeing these numbers and words wihotut a refrence point makes the fiidngs feel abitrary and can lose users.

This project was really engaging and impactful. The topic is super relevant right now and the way you presented it made it feel eye-opening. I especially liked how interactive the website was as it added to the experience of it all and really keeps the users interested in learning more.
Starting with an interactive element is such a good way to get the users attention and encourages engagement all throughout the website. The explore section helps a lot with the storytelling as it helps communicate the difficult topic clearly and having it interactive also helps the users understand the environmental implications they could have through their digital usage. Also, this project has a good amount of information while keeping a clean layout, which shows that there is a good balance between content and readability.
A minor improvement is to have the custom pointer show during the interactions without having the standard pointer show as it can ruin the immersion. As well, in the fourth visual the colours to showcase the different types of models does not show too well and blends into the background a bit, adding more contrast could help with readability and accessibility. Another small detail is having consistency in the typography across all the titles, as some had standardized typography where others did not.

Amazing UI, really makes you think about how we're using AI in our everyday lives. Strong visualizations. There's a lot of background context that helps frame the project. Other than that, i was so intrigued the whole time.
Love the visualization at the end that shows you how much carbon enters the atmosphere per query to AI. Really made me reflect on how I use AI. Very impressed!

Interesting! I appreciate the breakdown of concepts and terms in order to ensure the user actually understands the data since it is a bit more concept heavy. I also like the interactivity a lot. I do however wish there was more on impact that is grounded in ways that are more understandable or seem 'bigger' to the user. a lightbulb feels relatively minor or easy for someone to reason that lightbulbs don't use much energy which de-emphasizes the impact, so some additional comparisons or conversions to larger devices might strengthen your argument.

The website's design is clean, cohesive, and easy to navigate, and the flow of the site guides the user through the story in a natural way. The interactive elements, especially the LED countdown and carbon visualization effects, are very effective because they turn abstract data into something more tangible and memorable. It feels both visually strong and easy to understand as a user.
Some strengths include how well the project communicates its message in a simple and accessible way. The visuals and interactions work together to keep the user engaged, and the comparisons and explanations help make the data easier to understand. The storytelling is also strong, with a clear structure that helps guide the user through the information without feeling overwhelming.
Some improvements to the project could benefit from adding clearer comparisons to make the impact feel more relatable, improving clarity in some visuals, and including a bit more supporting context or explanation in certain sections.

CLEANNN site, it looks great! The topic is very important as well and I’m glad to see it as part of an AI-concentration class. The cost of AI as a message is very clear and well supported by the copy, data, and visualizations. From the UX perspective, the site has great UI and is quite responsive and interactive (especially appreciate the hover interaction over company names in the landing).
While monochromely green, the contrast within visualizations is great and helps drive the narrative in highlighting the most important pieces of data. The baselines are consistent and the use of gridlines is helpful in comparing and extrapolating data. I do wish that there was more context to supplement the visualizations and metrics (or moving the explanation of Watt/Wh up in the layout of the site). For the “How long could 1000 AI queries power your LED?” vis., consider moving the legend to the side of the chart since the chart is quite long and requires scrolling back up to look at it again. Making the legend interactive as filters would be helpful too, as this vis. unpacks a lot of data.

I really like the clean and modern look of this website. The typography makes it feel very professional and easy to navigate.
The information is highly cohesive and does a great job of taking abstract data. The way the sections flow from global statistics down to individual model performance makes the narrative very easy to follow.
For some improvements, I feel like having a bit more interactions or filters to allow viewers to see specifically what they want to see would flesh out the visualizations.
Overall, the way it combines technical data with environmental impact is really well done.

This site is beautiful. I love the modern matrix/backend code theme you've got going on. The mint green and blacks gets across the console AI feel very well but the choice of glowing texts and a sans-serif font makes reminds you that this is a modern phenomenon. I liked that you opted for a top-down narrative approach rather than something super dry and journalistic. It is super informative while not being overwhelming. I suggest you guys put this in your portfolio.
Three strengths:
- Very engaging interactions. The simple bar charts are effective and stunning. The 03 Explore is especially impressive with the bubbles.
- The layout is great and the text to interactive elements ratio is perfect. I think you could use this in a classroom environment.
- The choice of colors and theme. I can tell a lot of care went into the style and execution of your site.
Three improvements:
I want to mention that these are all minor as your site is pretty perfect in my eyes.
- The interactive globe of companies in your hero section is wonderful. It immerses you immediately. One thing that confused me is that the scale of the names do not match in proportion to their global carbon rating. For example, Google is the biggest name on there so I thought it was the #1 producer. I had to hunt for a long time before I found out it was LG AI whose text is extremely small.
- The LED chart looks and sounds awesome in theory but actually sitting there waiting for the lightbulb to run out is a bit disappointing. If possible, I would suggest having a timeline to scrub through maybe how much Wh is lost every hour instead of live feedback.
- Subheader navigation would improve readability a lot. Within each section there are multiple headings with different topics, having the ability to click through them like the navigation provided for the main sections at the top would really improve user flow.

The website layout is very clean and really well put together.
Its hard to find any faults.
The narrative is clear and the two interactable visualizations help the user comprehend the impacts of AI.
I think the AI Model Library viz could be improved by allowing the user to click the dots instead of needing to use the dropdown menu.
For the digital habits viz, where does the 10g number come from? Is that the recommended amount users should stop at?
This was a relevant topic and engaging website.
